  • Finalized my plans for Boston next weekend (Aug 4-5), got my reservations at the DoubleTree booked, itinerary set.

gonna take the bus right after work Friday and just settle in slowly.

The main destination *IS* going to be a house TERRACE party on the edge of the Financial District/Ctown area (Hudson Street) on Saturday, but I went ahead and made it into a weekend...gonna bring along my CANON Rebel XT, and ride the T and just reacquaint myself with the cith I called my 2nd home during college -- i used to visit my godbrothers and friends who went to BU, MIT, Harvard, all along the Charles River...hoping to get some good practice time in since i have not really done so since I got the camera back in Dec 2006 :D   also good time to reorient myself and do some self-rediscovery, which is something u definitely cannot accomplish when around other people all the time.   i almost lost myself a few times doing the regular thing...but am grateful for the times where I can refocus...

    this is gonna be *FUN*

...as well as a practice run for if i decide to do a foray in Europe on my own someday

...my only regret is not being able to get the LENS for my camera that I had wanted.  I need one that is more of a wide lens but I'll make do.  By the time I go to Amsterdam at years end, ill defintely have the right lens

hmm slightly offtopic but not really

anyone gona be in boston this coming weekend?  (AUGUST 4-5)

man i so WISH i had more time to get away, one wkend is surely NOT enough.

EDIT: actually I *DID* manage to get a better lens before I left...as well as a polarizing filter...so I just had BETTER make this trip WORTH my while.

    It will be

  • I have this and is selling it with a B+W Circular Polarizer filter: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-28-135mm-f-3.5-5.6-IS-USM-Lens-Review.aspx

Total value is like $500 but selling both for $300. Filter is like $150. It's a nice one. Lens is an image stabilizer lens too to help deter those camera shakes and slow shutter speeds.

  • ooh, sounds like fun!  show me pictures when complete!  I did the same thing awhile back, I was going head over heels with life here in NY; (so hectic)!  So I reserved a night at the BrainTree Marriot, jumped on the bus the next morning, arrived, walked around looking for photo ops, basically just to get out for a few and relax, hahah.

    Well, have fun once again!

  • i think when it comes to taking pix i'm too lazy to carry another piece of equipment with me...i look forward to the day that camera phones catch up with the technology of regular digicams...they already have 2+ megapixel camera phones, they gotta work on the zoom funcitonality though, it's pretty poor

  • Hope u have fun!

  • have fun in boston babe! im sure u'll have lots and lots of fun!

  • sometimes, you just have to do things in the manner in which we discussed.  I've done a few to Philly, twice to Boston, and I hope to do one to San Fran soon.  Just jumping on the plane, flying it out for a good 5-6 hours by yourself to relax, without having to worry about other stuff, can just be SO relaxing at times.  Once again, if you catch some foto ops, please do let me see!  btw, I heard Office Depot is selling the XT for 399.99!  hahah

To answer you, I'm on both, but I'm a blooger so Xanga is the way to go.  I feel the purpose of FaceBook has lost it's original intent (networking) and it's swayed to become another form of commercial, artificial social acceptance forum.  My two cents =X

You know, if you're interested, and want to do something else different, consider a "Cruise To Nowhere".  Literally.  I can give ya more details if you're interested =)

  • I'll be back next wednesday. And then on friday i'll be off again to Montauk. Now this is the way to spend the summer! =D

  • Cruise to Nowhere from New York

What's the perfect destination for a quick vacation? Nowhere! Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruises offer short cruises to nowhere from New York. All the fun of cruises without going to another port.

Cruises to nowhere are one- or two-night cruises out into the ocean and back. They're a great little get-away ... luxury accommodations, all the food you can eat, entertainment, dancing, casinos, swimming pools, and constant activities. Escape on a little cruise to nowhere.

Guess how much Allysa? -  CHEEEEAP!  If I or you do this, Balcony is the way to go!!

  • whoa.. sorry about that.  LOL

  • make sure u check mbta.com they are doing renovation work on the d-line and that adds 15 minutes to your commute.

  • have fun in boston!

  • hope ur having a good time in boston... btw, ur just looking more fabulous as u age... are u going backwards??

  • how's Boston treatin ya??

I def. would do the cruise, assuming I didn't have more time to "get away", but I def. want to do an extended vacay, especially to San Fran or somewhere along the West Coast.  Something about, getting all amped up to do it, and then when I'm on the bus/plane I'm looking out the window and I'm like "Holy fuck, I can't believe I'm doing this." hahah, and then you just have fun with it when you get to the destination!

  • i miss the days of spending solo travel time. enjoy ur time on the bus. from fun snacks to drinks to magazines to taking pics!!!!!!!!!
